Informal Community Group Development creates and supports small groups to develop, and take a wider role in influencing local environmental issues. Informal advice, support and encouragement lead to greater strength, motivation and effectiveness. Groups are more able to obtain and target funding, and get involved in local decision-making forums. The wider community benefits through physical change and enhanced community pride locally. This ultimately supports local compacts and national policy by encouraging greater community pride, involvement and citizenship.
